117th Philippine Independence Day

Different Filipino Organizations in Northern Norway Commomerate the 117th Philippine Independence Day in Harstad last June 14, 2014. Hosted by Harstad Fillipinske forening.

FCB joined the commomeration and day before the celebration, FCB participants travelled in groups heading to Harstad. Some of them embarked at a camping place closed to the City, some of them checked inn at the Hotel and to some relatives living near Harstad.

Early in the morning on the day of Commomeration there had been a Parade at the Center of Harstad participated by few Filipino Organizations. It was raining but it didn't stop the well dressed FCB participants in joining the parade. A Holy mass taked place after the parade at St. Sunniva Church.

The highlight of the event was held at Stangneshall in Harstad where many of the participants enjoying the bounty of filipino dishes and the programme itself. Filipino culture & traditions were showed & witnessed by Norwegians, Filipinos & visitors from other countries. The program included filipino traditional dance contest and beauty contest, selecting Ms. Philippines Northern Norway 2014. FCB competed with their Tinolabong dance. Dancers from Myra won the dance competition. Ms. Angelita Hunstad and Ms. Debbie Kristensen were FCB's contestants to Ms. Philippines Northern Norway 2014 competition. Both were lovely & stunning and so the other contestants. Ms. Angelita Hunstad won the 1st runner-up that made us proud of her and of course we are proud of Ms. Debbie Kristensen too. The last number of the program was a solid performance of FCB kids who danced the Tinikling. It was a highly remarkable event , obtaining the bond between Filipinos living in Northern Norway and promoting the Filipino culture among other nationalities in Norway. Mabuhay!
